EDUCATIONAL STANDING.—A man of state reputation. Services always in
demand as an instructor in institutes. Has been an instructor in the institutes of Yam­
hill, Polk, Clatsop, Multnomah, Marion and Washington Counties. Has been present at
every session of the STATE TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION since its organization ten
years ago. Tillamook county has been honored by his election, first as a member of the
Executive Committee, second as Second-Vice President, third as First-Vice President of
the State Association. Is in line for promotion and will, without opposition, be chosen as
PRESIDENT OF THE STATE ASSOCIATION at the next convention to be held at
Eugene of this year. The Association has TWELVE HUNDRED MEMBERS. By
attending these institutes and conventions, he has kept abreast with the leaders of the
teaching profession, and has then given his teachers and his schools the great benefits
resulting therefrom. He has sought to improve teachers’ qualifications, first by improv­
ing his own.
