CHANGING HANDS
Great Activity in Real Estate
in Vicinity of Tillamook
and Netarts Bay.

Practically the entire ocean beach in
the vicinity of Tillamook and Netarls
bay is changing ownership, in anticipa
tion of the developments attending the
»uihiing of two railroads connecting
with Portland. It is believe«! in various
(uarters that Tillamook beaches, with
I ailroad transportation, will become tin
i nost popular beaches on the north Pa-
ific coast.
There is great activity in building ai d
realty at Tillamook City. The building
»fabout 40 houses is now contracted
for and construction will be carried on
ibis winter.
“Tillamook is one of the most active
business points in Oregon today,” said
B. 0. Snuffer at the Imperial hotel
yesterday. Mr. Snuffer, who is in
Portland on real estate business, is an
old-time merchant and one of the best
known men in Tillamook county.
“The Astoria & Columbia River rail
road is surveyed from Seaside to Tilla
mook City, and about one half of the
tight of way has been secured. Con
demnation suits for a third ot the re
mainder have been started. The survey
of the Pacific Railway & Navigation
company is completed to Tillamook
City, rights of way Jure purchased ex
epting five tracts on the route, and
terminal grounds are bought at Till«
mook. Ground has been broken in the
•ity, ami grading is under way. The
tunnel at Hobsonville has been opened
and work in it will be carried on all
winter. Tillamook City is sure of two
steam railroads and there is strong
probability of an electric line j from
Portland. Y op can just say that things
are moving out Tillamook way.”

Land Changes Hands.

Count Von Lauterbach, who hunted
bear in Tillamook county six weeks
ago, is coming true much sooner than
was expected. Hr came all the way
from Germany to hunt bear in Oregon,
and spent nearly two weeks in Tilla
mook county. He took three bear and
a number olcougar and whs delighted
with the country. It is said he has five
men at $5 per day each to wait upon
him, and his display of wealth fairly
dazzled people on the coast. He whs
much embarrassed by the lack of accom
modations. and declared that within the
next year he would return and build a
|5.000 hotel on Netarts beach He pre
dieted that this »»each would become
the most popular beach on the coast,

Syndicate to Build Hotel.
A syndicate of Portland men will beat

tion. They have organized a company

Moser, all of Portland ; H. O, Snuffer,
Tillamook; W. Ferguson, Astoria; Judge
Hamilton. Roseburg. It is proposed
that a complete ocean Ix^ch resort be
laid out, and a hotel of 400 rooms will
probably be built by Phil Metschan &
Son.
Mr. Ferguson who is said to have
sold more Seaside resort lots than any
other man in Oregon, is interested at
Seaside, North Brach, Long Beach and
Cannon Beach, lie is quoted as sa} ing
that the prospects for oersn beach de-
