#1.50 per year,
Fire destroyed Joseph Blazer’s house
and bam, with the furniture, hay, etc.,
on Monday evening, which is known as
the McCormack place op the road to
Long Prairie. It is not known how the
fire originated, but it first started in the
barn and then caught the house on fire,
making a clean sweep of both. The loss
is covered bv $1,000 insurance in the
Oregon Fire Relief Association, of which
Mr. J. S. Stephens is the agent.
Geo. \\ . Phelps swore out a complaint
and had Elmer Hall arrested for stealing
a cow, but as there is a replevin snit filed
in the justice court to prove the owner
ship of the animal, the case against Hall
was continued until the 1st September
so that the parties can fight out the civil
suit first before the criminal action is
taken up. Attorney T. B. Handley will
represent Hall and Attorney H. T. Botts
Phelps in the civil suit.
