Citizen’s Ticket will Control the
Council —Saloon Keepers Put
Another Nail in their Coffins.
The unexpected happened in Tillamook
City last week when the gambling fra
ternity, saloon faction and their hangers
on surprised everybody in the city when
they came out in print in favor of the en-
forcement of the laws. Such a double
somersault into the Headlight’s band
wagon was enough to arouse Old Nick’s
wrathful indignation and wonder what
was next going to happen in this city of
political rottenness w hich he claimed as
his own possession for years. Saloon
keepers, gamblers, card dealers and their
political pups all posing as reformers was
something that His Satanic Majesty
could not understand. Neither could the
citizens of Tillamook City. They were
thunder struck, amazed and wondered
to see so many sudden conversions. Dad
Hadley and his henchmen reformers ?
Gee ! Why didn’t they callout the band,
set off fire crackers, andyeil at the top of
their voices for so amazing transforma
tion. What had brought on this saucti
rnonious air in people who have interests
in saloons and gambling joints ? Was
it that the women of Tillamook City
were on the war path and were alter
the lords of creation who were robbing
them out of the necessaries and comforts
of lite, alienating the affections of their
husbands, destroying the lives uf their
sons, and oft time their daughterss to
satisfy the a verice and the passions of
those who run gambling joints ? Or was
it that at no distant date the whole
secret of the rottenness will some day be
made public ? How the Headlight man
is going to get along with this conglom
eration in his band wagon, all yelling for
the enforcement of the law, is hard to
tell, for it remains to be seen whether it
is not Dad Hadley’s and his henchmen's
wide open gambling laws the saloon fac
tion intends enforcing, it they can. and
not the state laws and city ordinances.
