City Council Meeting.
A meeting of the city council was held

Wiley in the chair and Councilnien A. J.
Cohn, M. Mach and S. A. Brodhead were
present.
The first business was a resolution in.

was passed unanimously, and was as
follows: '‘Whereas, President McKinley
has fallen by the bullet of an assassin, lie
it resolved that the people ot Tillamook,
recognizing in his untimely death the loss
to the nation of a great leaderand to the
world ol a good man, unite with our
fellow countrymen in grief at his loss and
horror of the deed by which he fell; re.
solved, that seeing in this foul deed a
menace at American institutions, we de

as shall stamp out the foul brood who
have assailed our nation's life and honor.’’

its second reading making the saloon
license $800 a year.
Mayor Wiley stated that a number of
the citizens had suggested to him that it
would be proper to have memorial ser
vices in the city the day of the funeral of
President McKinley, which, on motion,
was agreed to, the mayor being author
ized to appoint the necessary committees,
which he did as follows :
