The steamer Harrison left Thursday.
Born, on the 1st inst., to the wife ol
Mr. Henry Reynolds, a son.
Another blacksmith shop is being con
structed near the livery barn.
Miss Dora E. High has been engaged
to teach the Latimer school, which will
commence the first of next month.
The installation of officers in the Odd
fellows lodge, which was set for next
Saturday, has been postponed one week
owing to the inability of the officers of
the grand lodge to be present before
next week.
There was a meeting of the Epworth
League at the M.E. church on Tuesday,
when the following officers were elected :
Miss Dora E. High, president ; Dr. C. E.
Hawke, Miss Della Curtis, Mr. G. B.
Lamb and Mrs. F. R. Beals, vice-presi
dents; Miss Pearl Briscoe, secretary:
Mr. Edgar Latimer, treasurer.
There appears to be a disposition on
the part of some of the businessmen who
have telephones to stay with Mr. J. E.
Tuttle now that the Oregon Telephone
Company is encioaching upon histeiri-
tory. We understand that company has
offered to buy him out, but the price is so
exceedingly small that it is not probable
that Mr. Tutlle will sell. The Oregon
Telephone Company will charge $1.50
per month for the use of the phone, and
will charge extra for every minute the
wires are used outside of a certain ra
dius of the city. Mr. Tuttle has per
mitted those having a telephone to use
it wherever the line is extended in the
county without extra cost and being re
stricted to time, which is a great accom
modation to those who had telephones
put in to reach outside districts.
Archbishop A. Christie arrived in the
city on Monday, this being his second
visit to Tillamook. Father J. J. Burn
had taken his departure it few hours
previous to the archbishop’s arrival, and
a message was sent to the toll gate and
Father Burri returned to the city. He
had been notified to return to his old
parish in Idaho, much to the regret of
his parishioners in Tillamook. Arch
bishop Christie and Father Burri left the
city Thursday afternoon.
