William Wallace Thayer, formerly

died at his home soutlieast of Portland,
on the Woodstock and Waverly railway,

illness which began Friday in the rourt
house, the cause of his death being cere­

his usual health, Mr. Thayer went to the
courthouse Friday morning, where he
remained engaged in the transaction of
legal business until late in the afternoon,
when he was attacked with a chill. He
decided that lie would go home, hoping

The “Old Governor,’’ as his friends loved

hood where he had lived for a number of
years, he was highly respected. He took
an interest in neighborhood affairs, and
served the Woodstock school district as
director, with the same care and atten­
tion he had given weightier affairs.
