When the new sheriff came in a tenant
came for the jail. II. U. Karr, who as
saulted Editor Johnson, of the Nehalem
Tinies, was fined |5.00. lie refused to
pay the fine and constable Geo. Bailey
brought him to this city yesterday,
where he will lie until the Majesty of
the law is vindicated. The fine and costs
amount to $37. Mr Karr says he has
the money to pay his fine, blit will not
do it for the reason that the prosecution
was unjust
