There should bo a high Bchoo)
or iwadeiny in this plui-o where
pupils can obtain a inure advanced
education than in the ordinary
common school course.
A well-
conducted high-school supported
by the district is probably the bi-.-t
thing at present and will answer
the purpose until Tillamook is
! connected with the Willamette
valley by railroad to admit of out
side pupils’attendance. But it is
doubtful if the people of the dis
trict will vote a tax to lit up an
other room ¡11 the school-house
and employ another teacher, as a
skilful and high-priced teacher
will be necessary for the place.
If a school of this kind cannot be
secured, a select or private school
should be encouraged,and it would
probably be the nucleus of an acad
emy or college.
In case a good
school is maintained in this place,
many pupils would contp in from
the surrounding country and they
would spend their money here in
stead of going away and helping
to build up other places.
