The honey produced here excels in flavor. ROADS AND TRANSPORT AT |O?i. Trade iscarried on mostly by small coasting steam schooners that enter Tillamook ba;., ami occasionally Nehalem and Ne«tueca. Also, by the lumber vessels that ply between this place ami San Francisco. Much of the passenger travel is by these boats. A small amount of freight is can ied over the mountain roa»to by wagons, and most of the passenger travel goes . that way. A rail-road is being surveyed which no doubt will be speedily constructed and will [ connect Tillamook xvith Astoria and with the Willamette valley. A stage line is in operation between Tillamook and North Yamhill, and most traveler« bound for Tillamook take th» S. 1’. It. R. from Portland to North Yamhill, ami make the balance of the journey, 45 miles, by stage. There is also a good wagon roan via Nestucca and Sherii’an, over which there is a great deal of travel by campers in the summer. There is a trail up the beach to Astoria, ove r which many cattle are driven to market. A wagon-road will soon be open to Astoria, and a good road is being built up Wilson river to Forest Grove. The county is well supplied with roads,the Maxwell road extending from north to south almost the entire length of the county This road was built by a state* appropriation, through the efforts of Representative J. W. Maxwell ami cost over flo.ooo. TILLAMOOK Art A PLEASUKK RESORT. The climate make« out door camping delight ful, either in the mountains or on the beach. Fishing is excellent In all the streams, trout be ing plentiful, and (-bun digging on th«* beach is a favorite pastime. Game, such as deer, elk, bear, pheasants, grouse, quail, duck! and geese, is plentiful. As soon ns good hotels are built on the beach Tillamook will become a popular rummer re sort. The beaches at Nestucca. Netarts am! and Garibaldi arc much freepiented at present. TOWN». Tillamook, the county seat, to the largest ami important town in the county and xxi'l probably always take the lead and becoaie quit»* an im portant little city within the next two years. The town now has about 6 .0 people and is grow ing rapidly, buildings going up everywhere. There are now, three hotels, a drugstore, live general merclmndtoe stores, a jewelry itore, two saloons, a lemprrane«- saloon, two hard ware stores, a hank, a «aw ami planing mill, a mc.it manrket, two photograph galleries, a harness «hop, large liv. ry stable, two iicxxs. ¡»a per«, and various other shops ami offices too numerous to mention. The Masonic or«lrr, I. O. O. F,,amlG. A. R, have flourishing lodges here. The town to situated on lloqu 11 ton slough, ail arm of the bay, ami on the edge of a beautiful prairie. No finer town-site can be found in the state. There are miiiiy go*.<1 business buildings, prix ate dwellings nml a «4 < ajo rchool house that would be a cre«lit to a t >wn tu c».* the size. The bulk uf the county trade is done here. Bay ('ity is a promising town, just starting on the bay. ami will always be a thriving town. Great developments are promised ut Bay City soon. Thcrearegood stores nt Nehalem,llobsonvilh* Garibaldi, Dolph, Woods and Orvtoxxu, and some of these places will 110 doubt grow into considerable villages. ETC. ETC.
