Bentson a prominent merchant of Silverton, Oregon, died instant!', from heart failure Wril;.'»- day afternoon at 5:15, after a linger ing illness of eight years duration. He had always been about his place of business until a heart attack about three weeks ago which had confined him to his home. Ben R. Bentson was born near Bergen Norway, October 27th, I s is In 1S66 he emigrated to the United States and settled at Decorah, lowu, where in 1875 he was united in marriage to Olivia Erickson and they came to South Dakota and took up u homestead near Garretson. To this union were born ten children, whom are living. He followed his trade of brick mason and contractor for many j ears. 111 1S94 he started in the mercantile business in Garretson, S. D. and in 1901 he came to Si'verton, Oregon and continued in the business until the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his loss besides a devoted wife, nine sons and one daughter.
