Council okays money for Master Plan
From page 4
The council approved an
amendment to the Cooperative
Improvement Agreement be-
tween the Oregon Department
of Transportation (ODOT) and
the City of Vernonia regarding
completion of the work being
done on Missouri Ave. and
Texas Ave. in preparation for
the opening of the new school.
City Administrator Bill Haack
was given authorization to con-
tract with Tetra Tech to update
the city’s Master Capital Plan
(MCP). The expected cost is
$68,111, split between Tetra
Tech and Daniel Hefferman
Company. The initial MCP was
done in 1999. A recent scoping
exercise done by Tetra Tech,
for $10,000, found the MCP to
be out of date, with no consis-
tent guidance, that it is not a re-
liable planning document, and
that the System Development
Charges (SDCs) are out of
date. The money for the update
will come from contract servic-
es and contingency lines in
SDC funds for parks, water,
sewer, storm and streets.
Council gave approval to
Jeff Burch, Public Works Fore-
man, to go ahead with his plan
to use asphalt grinding to repair
portions of A and B Streets.
This method will cost less than
half of the normal paving meth-
ods used and, it is hoped, will
be a good method for use on
streets with only local access
traffic.
Resolution No. 29-12 estab-
lishing a Public Works Commit-
tee was approved. The council
worked earlier in the year to
standardize the committee
frameworks and the committee
has now reviewed and accept-
ed the new committee lan-
guage.
The next regular council
meeting will be held August 20,
starting at 7:00 p.m. at city hall.
