WASHINGTON, DC – Memo
to Experienced Workers:
AARP is offering a unique
new way to advance yourself in
today’s tight job market with
Work Reimagined, a social net-
work-based experienced work-
er jobs program that connects
employers seeking experi-
enced workers with qualified
professionals searching for
new or more satisfying careers.
The site (www.workreimag
ined.org) will leverage the plat-
form of the professional net-
working site, LinkedIn.
AARP President Rob Ro-
masco announced the multi-
pronged Work Reimagined on-
line initiative, outlining some of
the key elements, which in-
clude:
• original and curated con-
tent with advice and insights
relevant to experienced work-
ers in today’s job market, and
• access to current job open-
ings with the nearly 120 em-
ployers who have taken the
Work Reimagined pledge, pub-
licly committing to treat all em-
ployees equally regardless of
age.
“Work Reimagined enables
experienced workers to come
together in a vibrant online
community to share your views
and help move through ‘what’s
next’ career moments,” said
Romasco. “It opens the way for
access to workforce resources,
as well as the opportunity to
connect with other experienced
workers in a peer-to-peer envi-
ronment.”
The dynamic nature of Work
Reimagined is demonstrated

gust 23 is the deadline to file
nomination papers for the posi-
tions of Vernonia mayor and
two council seats.
The open positions are cur-
rently held by Mayor Josette
Mitchell, Councilor Randy Par-
row and Councilor Kim Tierney.
As of noon Monday, August 13,
only Tierney had filed for elec-
tion, Mitchell has not yet filed,
but plans to seek another term.
No one has indicated an inter-
est in the council seat held by
Parrow, who does not plan to
run again.
Vernonia Council positions
are all “at large”, which means
there are no designations by
district or position. For in-
stance, if five people file for the
council, the two getting the
most votes will be elected to fill
the two open seats. The may-
oral term is two years, and the
council positions are for four

Ridge Riders voice concerns at
Vernonia City Council meeting
At the August 6 Vernonia
City Council meeting, George
Bellingham spoke to the coun-
cil on behalf of the Vernonia
Ridge Riders. He told council
that he had tried to get the
lease agreement put on the
agenda but was told that only
city staff or council members
could put items on the agenda.
He wanted to discuss items of
non-compliance that were ad-
dressed in a letter, dated Au-
gust 2, from the Ridge Riders
attorney to the council. Belling-
ham said “The ‘straw’ was the
guy wire” added to the new
power pole in their warmup
area and he asked why they
had not been informed.
Recorder Joann Glass
spoke on the agenda item is-
sue, saying that the city’s attor-
ney stated, “The citizens don’t
set the agenda, the city does
so through the city administra-
tor or the council.” Mayor
Josette Mitchell suggested the
council and Ridge Riders have
a joint meeting, but said she’d
have to contact the city’s coun-
sel because the Ridge Riders
involved their attorney. Mitchell
agreed to contact Ridge Riders
President DeLoris Bellingham
after discussing the matter with
the city attorney.
