grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren.

Miller. He was raised in North
Plains and attended Hillsboro
High School.
In 1989, he married Victoria
Fletchall. They made their
home in Hillsboro before di-
vorcing in 1998. He married
Vicki Cooper in 2009. He
worked in production mainte-
nance.
He enjoyed the outdoors,
camping, clam digging, hunt-
ing, fishing, Nascar racing,
cooking, karaoke, playing the
guitar and gardening.
He was preceded in death
by his father.
Survivors include his wife;
one son, Brian Cooper of For-
est Grove; two daughters,
Tonya Derrick of Timber, and
Tiffany Cooper of Gaston; his
mother, Marlene Cheatum of
North Plains; two brothers,
Rick of Priest River, Idaho, and
Keith of Aloha; two sisters, Lin-
da Mason of Forest Grove, and
Vicki Strode of Yamhill; five
grandchildren; nieces and
nephews.

Obituary
WARREN DALE KYSER
Warren Dale Kyser, 65, died
June 5, 2012. A memorial service
was held June 16 in Oregon City.
Mr. Kyser was born Decem-
ber 31, 1946, in Longview,
Washington. He was raised in
the
Mist-Birkenfeld-Vernonia
area. He graduated from Vernon-
ia High School in 1965. He
served in the U.S. Marine Corps
during the Vietnam era.
In 1989, he married JoAnn
Carol Zoel. He worked for the
U.S. Forest Service for 29 years,
first fighting forest fires, then as a
fire crew boss, replanting trees in
reforestation projects, then as
Timber Sales Officer. He also op-
HELENA “LENA” METSLER
Helena “Lena” Fay Metzler,
94, Forest Grove, died June
30, 2012.
Mrs. Metzler was born April
5, 1918, in Astoria, to Lawrence
Engvold and Edith Fay Ray-
mond Reierson. She was
raised on the Reierson home-
stead in Elsie. She graduated
from Jewell High School in
1936.
In 1938, she married Ken-
neth Franklin Metzler. They
made their home in Elsie, then
moved to Forest Grove in
1948. They later lived in Canby
and Naselle, Washington, be-
fore returning to Forest Grove
in 1980. She completed a med-
ical assistant course at Clacka-
mas College and also worked

RANDY JOHN MILLER
Randy John Miller, 54, Gas-
ton, died June 28, 2012. A
graveside service was held
July 6 at the Shadybrook
Cemetery in North Plains.

ELLEN LOUISE VONWALD
Ellen Louise VonWald, 72,
Buxton, died July 8, 2012. A
celebration of life was held July
12.
Mrs. VonWald was born Oc-
tober 6, 1939, in St. Joseph,
Missouri, to Charles “Harry”
and Mary Ellen (Welch) Hulse.
Ellen Louise VonWald
The family moved to Oregon
when she was young. She
graduated from Portland’s
Franklin High School in 1958.
In 1960, she married Dennis
VonWald. They made their
home in Portland before mov-
ing to Buxton. She worked as a
administrative assistant at US
Bank, at a local funeral home,
and at Intel for 13 years.
She enjoyed entertaining
during the holidays and for spe-
cial occasions, traveling, and
cooking.
Survivors include her hus-
band; three daughters, Denise
VonWald of Adelaide, Australia,
Deanna Palm of Hillsboro, and
Darcey Edwards of Banks;
three siblings and five grand-
children.
Remembrances are sug-
gested to Hospice & Palliative
Care of Washington County.
