Public invited to meetings on hunting regulations
ODFW will host 20 public
meetings around the state in
May to provide information
about big game herd health
and numbers, propose the
number of controlled big game
hunting tags to issue this fall
and review concepts for any
2013 big game regulation
changes.

There will be a meeting in
Forest Grove on May 10, from
7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Oregon
Department of Forestry, Tu-
alatin Room, 801 Gales Creek
Road, Forest Grove.
The information to be pre-
sented at the meetings will be
available online in early May
under the Hunting Resources
website.
Members of the public can
offer input on hunting regula-
tions and tag numbers at the
May public meetings or send
comments to odfw.comments
@state.or.us or ODFW Wildlife
Division, 3406 Cherry Ave NE,
Salem, OR 97303. Members of
the public may also testify in
person at Commission meet-
ings
Final fall 2012 big game tag
numbers will be adopted by the
Oregon Fish and Wildlife Com-
mission at their June 7-8 meet-
ing in Salem. Hunting regula-
tions for the 2013 big game
seasons will be set at the Com-
mission’s October 5 meeting in
Salem.
Oregon offers a variety of
both general seasons and con-
trolled hunts for big game
(deer, elk, pronghorn antelope,
bighorn sheep, Rocky Mtn
goat, cougar, and black bear).
The number of tags for con-
trolled hunts is limited and
hunters must apply for them by
May 15 each year.
