He enjoyed old cars and restoring them, rodeos, swap meets and garage sales. When he was younger, he rode Harley Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed dancing. He loved to joke and pull pranks on his little sisters. He was preceded in death Januar y 18 solution by a stepson. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clint of Gaston, and Brad of Roy; two daughters, Debbie Gobel of Roy, and Lisa Rose of Damascus; three stepchildren, Colleen Utter of Portland, Laurie Sutton of Beaverton, and Carey Peede of Michigan; three brothers, Richard “Dick”, Larry, and Greg; three sisters, Joan Dil- lon, Myra Holmes, and Ellen Moore; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Duyck & VanDeHey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. EVELYN L. SEPPALA- WILLIAMS Evelyn L. Seppala-Williams, 96, Astoria, died January 17, 2012. Funeral services were held January 27 at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary. Grave- side services followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Asto- ria. Mrs. Seppala-Williams was born April 27, 1915, in Ludlow, South Dakota, to Carl A. and Evelyn L. Seppala-Williams Esther J. (Wickman) Magnu- son. She attended Vesse School. The farm she grew up on is still owned by her family. She milked cows, churned but- ter, and raised chicken and beef on that farm. She then worked at the Buffalo Hotel in Buffalo, S. Dak., and met her husband there. In 1939, she married Henry R. Seppala. They made their home in Astoria. They owned and operated Greenwood Cemetery from 1945 to 1968. Her husband died in 1973. In 1980, she married Ralph O. Williams. She also worked at Astoria Apparel, Young World, Fabricland, and J.C. Penney. She enjoyed sewing and was active as a 4-H leader in sewing and knitting. She also enjoyed playing bridge, pino- chle, working crossword puz- zles, and jigsaw puzzles. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Mag- nuson, and Sidney Magnuson; and three sisters, Ines Gustafson, Viona McGraw, and Doris Stenback. Survivors include her son, Michael Seppala of Yuma, Ari- zona; two daughters, Mary Tolonen of Vernonia, and Bar- bara Wells of Knappa; one sis- ter, Donna Whitlow of Phoenix, Ariz.; and five grandsons.
