Obituary
RICHARD K. ALDRICH
Richard K. Aldrich, 69, Ver-
nonia, died May 28, 2011. Fu-
neral arrangements are pend-
ing.

ROSE DETTMERS
Rose Dettmers, 72, Scotts-
dale, Arizona, died May 22,
2011. A celebration of life serv-
ice was held May 31 at Vernon-
ia Community Church. Burial
took place at Vernonia Memori-
al Cemetery.
Mrs. Dettmers was born July
17, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, to
Vito and Mary (Mele) Simplicio.

She was raised in Los Angeles
and Redondo Beach, California.
In 1959, she married Wallace
B. “Wally” Dettmers. They made
their home in Redondo Beach,
then Huntington Beach, Calif.,
before moving to Vernonia in
1979. In 1991, they moved to
Guadalupe, Calif. In 2002, she
moved to Redmond, and in
2009 to Scottsdale, Ariz. With
her husband, she owned and
operated Brunsman Hardware
for many years.
She enjoyed people, playing
cards, organizing parties and
community events.
She was preceded in death
by two sons, Wallace B. “Butch”
Dettmers and Anthony “Tony”
Dettmers; and a brother, Mike
Simplicio.
Survivors include her son,
Vito John Dettmers of the Philip-
pines; two brothers, Jack Simp-
licio of Redondo Beach, Calif.,
and Vito Frank Simplicio of
Scottsdale, Ariz.; three grand-
children; four great-grandchil-
dren; nieces and nephews.

STANLEY TAFT REYNOLDS
Stanley Taft Reynolds, 76,
Portland, died May 19, 2011. A
crypt-side ceremony and recep-
tion took place May 26 at Sky-
line Memorial Gardens in Port-
land.
Mr. Reynolds was born Janu-
ary 27, 1935, in Louisiana, to
Taft and Mary (Schmidt)
Reynolds. When he was high
school age, he headed for
Texas with his uncle and they
worked on a barge. He then
moved to Vernonia.
In 1952, when he was 17 and
she was 15 years-old, he mar-
ried Bonnie. They made their
home in Vernonia, until moving
to Tigard in 1968. He worked as
an auto mechanic, and was with
Bill Olinger Lin
