Columbia County Sheriff
Fallen Chief's Memorial
Illumines the Best of
Columbia County

Rainier Police Chief Ralph
Painter on January 5 has
drawn Columbia County com-
munities together in profound
ways.

to the tragedy and their support for the fallen officer’s
family, to the tremendous cooperation among public
safety agencies in and around Columbia County to ef-

Sheriff’s Office calls in the greater Vernonia area while
we were engaged with filling gaps in patrols inside the
North Columbia County cities of Rainier and
Clatskanie.

Office patrols while Vernonia Police officers joined the
rest of Columbia County law enforcement in the me-
morial procession and service. Washington County
Sheriff Rob Gordon and his staff are to be commend-
ed for their cooperation and compassion for our situa-
tion in Columbia County.
The outpouring of support for Chief Painter, his fam-
ily and his greater law enforcement and public safety
family in our county cannot be overstated. Both from
public safety agencies nationwide and our own com-
