Hays holds holiday events It’s beginning to look a lot like a happy Christmas for peo- ple and pets at the Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter. The shelter is welcoming the public – and their pets – to a celebra- tion on December 4 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Pet Photos with Santa: Bring your best furry friend to Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter for a picture with Santa Paws. The keepsake photos will cost just $10, and all the money will go directly to the shelter. The photos will be taken by Pho- tographs by Kellie. Arts and Crafts: Photos are for four-footed kids, but two- footed kids (and the young-at- heart) will have free animal- themed holiday craft projects. Adopt a Pet: The event also marks the first day of the shel- ter’s Home for the Holidays Adoption Campaign. “We want every dog and cat that’s in our shelter today to have a forever home before the end of the month,” says Deborah Wood, manager for Animal Services for Washington County. Hours/Location: Photos with Santa and Crafts: noon to 4:00 p.m. (Saturday only). Adoption Hours: 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 1901 SE 24th Avenue, Hills- boro (on the corner of 24th and Tualatin Valley Highway in front of Lowe’s). Bonnie L. Hays Small Ani- mal Shelter depends on the support of donations from the community to provide special- ized medical care to animals that are victims of neglect and abuse. Each year we bring in about 6,000 stray or aban- doned dogs and cats. Shelter staff works hard to find the owners of lost animals, give medical care when necessary, spay/neuter animals that are unclaimed and find great forev- er homes for homeless pets. “We live in a great communi- ty that does so much to support our shelter.
