Blueberry pancakes and the
Vernonia Friendship Jamboree
— a great combination and a
great way to start the day! The
annual Jamboree Pancake
Breakfast will be served at the
senior center on Saturday and
Sunday from 7:00 to 11 a.m.
with bacon, eggs, all-you-can-
eat blueberry pancakes and
beverage. Prices are still $7.00
for adults, children just $4.00.
The thrift shop will also be
open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday
and Sunday during Jamboree,
and everything will be available
at half-price. In fact, the cen-
ter’s half-price sale is going on
now and will continue through
Jamboree.
After many years without an
increase, the center’s lunch
prices have been raised by one
dollar. A $4.00 donation is now
suggested for those 60 and old-
er, and $5.00 for those under
60. If you prefer lunch to go, for
only $5.00 you can still call
ahead and place your order.
Lunch will not be served at
the center on Friday, August 20,
when the annual Senior Picnic
will be held in Anderson Park.
The price of Friday break-
fasts remains unchanged.
Breakfast is $3.50, and is
served from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.,
and freshly baked maple bars
are $1.00 each
Bread is available to all on
Wednesdays, from 9:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. You may also enjoy
the Golden Oldies, whose mu-
sical entertainment enlivens
every Wednesday.
Meals on Wheels are avail-
able for those who are home-
bound. Call Senior Information
Assistance
Representative
Rosie McCoy. She will explain
how to put this great service to
work.
Free hearing checks will be
performed by a representative
of Columbia Hearing Aids on
the second Monday of each
month; call the Center for an
appointment.
Other regularly scheduled
activities include Tuesday gath-
erings of needle-workers, with
quilting, knitting, crocheting,
etc., from 10:30 a.m. to closing;
and Friday afternoon games,
especially pinochle, from 1:00
p.m. to closing.
If you would like to see some
other activities, please let us
know. A good time for sugges-
tions would be at the center’s
board of directors’ meeting on

the second Friday of each
month at 10 a.m. Your sugges-
tions are welcome.
