If you have any doubts, I urge you to read the Voters Pamphlet, consider the qualifi- cations of the candidates, and see if you don’t agree that Shawna is the best qualified for the job. Mary Sykes Scappoose Moon is organized and goal-oriented To the Editor: It has been my privilege to know Russ Moon for nearly 40 years. I was fortunate to have him as a teacher and coach during my elementary school years in Rainier where he pro- foundly impacted my life during those formative years. His well organized and goal oriented approach to all aspects of life contributed greatly to my per- sonal development and the for- mation of my own philosophical views and beliefs. Russ was a positive and constructive role model for many students and players during those years. However, he was more than that for me – a mentor that helped me achieve whatever success I have enjoyed in my personal life and career over the years. After several years in the public school system, Russ de- cided to take on the challenges of the private sector – not an easy transition. Nonetheless, he was able to apply his skills, talents, and positive approach to develop a successful busi- ness in the competitive finan- cial services industry. Russ was able to provide valuable finan- cial advice and products to clients throughout southwest Washington and northwest Oregon, while achieving per- sonal success and recognition along the way. This experience helped Russ develop a keen understanding of the chal- lenges associated with devel- oping and growing a business in the private sector. All along, Russ has re- mained active in his community and been a positive force for change in whatever activities he’s been involved with, includ- ing the Rainier City Council. For as long as I have known him, he has been a resident of Columbia County. I know he genuinely cares about the fu- ture of the County and its resi- dents. His tenure in the County and his success in both the public and private sectors make him an outstanding can- nonia. Remembrances are suggested to the Kristin F.
