Page 12 The INDEPENDENT, August 20, 2009 Banks school board goes to work with all director positions full A fresh, positive atmosphere pervaded the Banks school board meetings August 10, when a full five-member board of directors, for the first time in several months, allowed the board to begin plans for the up- coming school year. Board chairman Will Moore and vice- chairman Kathy Edison fielded a variety of procedural ques- tions from new board mem- bers. Moore led workshop dis- cussion concerning goals for the district, facility planning, and improving communication and transparency. The board agreed that developing a good understanding of the current state of the district was critical to decision making. Interim Superintendent Jim Foster’s administrative team is at work. Business Manager Si- mon Levear, Director of Stu- dent Services Shelley Mitchell, Director of Technology and As- sessment Gary Hartman, Ele- mentary Principal Bob Huston, Junior High Principal and Cur- riculum Director Mark Everett continue in their positions. For the 2009-2010 school year Jim Smith will be high school princi- pal and Wymon Smith will be athletic director. The position of Just the finest in collision repair high school vice-principal is not funded. Last month the board joined public boards across the state by approving required “house- keeping” authorizations, desig- nations and approvals.
