Newest technology will aid local dental patients Schenks move to Oregon Realty
Oregon Realty Company
have announced that Henk and
Nancy Schenk have joined the
company at their Vernonia
Branch. Oregon Realty Co. is
one of the largest, locally
owned and operated real es-
tate companies in Oregon and
is recognized as a leader in the
real estate profession. The Ver-
nonia Branch, located at 825
Bridge Street, has operated
since 1992.
Nancy Shenk has been in
the real estate business since
1968. She loves helping people
secure their dreams and goals
of home ownership. Her vast
experience includes escrow, ti-
tle and mortgage brokerage.

Ever had to get a crown for a
bad tooth? Don’t you hate how
you have to have that impres-
sion stuff in your mouth, then
get a temporary crown that just
doesn’t feel right? Then, as if
that’s not bad enough, you
have to miss work or fun to come
back for a second visit to get the
permanent crown? Vernonia
Dental just changed all that.
Dr. Chris Scheuerman is
now one of only three dental of-
fices in Oregon to have a
CEREC ® system. After he
heard of the system he kept in
touch with Sirona Dental Sys-
tems, which makes CEREC ® ,
because he could see the ben-
efit to his patients that the sys-
tem can provide. “A lot of peo-
ple think we can’t get the latest
and greatest all the way out
here in Vernonia, but this
shows we do have cutting edge
technology right here,” stated
Dr. Scheuerman.
CEREC ® is a system that
uses a digital 3D camera to
make a digital picture of a tooth
that needs onlay or inlay fill-
ings, veneers or crowns. Once
the digital picture is on the
computer screen, the prepara-
tion of the tooth (the drilling) oc-
curs as usual. After the tooth is
prepared, another digital pic-
ture is taken and overlaid with
the first picture. Then it can be
manipulated by Dr. Scheuer-
man to define the edges and
even add back in any portion of
the tooth that has been worn
down or broken off. When the
doctor is satisfied with the sys-
tem’s proposed restoration, a
blank block of the correctly col-
ored porcelain is loaded into
the milling machine. The milling
machine then takes the infor-
mation from the computer im-
age and automatically shapes
the restoration. CEREC ® even
gives the estimated time to
completion. In about 15 min-
utes, the restoration is ready to
be permanently attached.
Dr. Scheuerman has always
liked to use the latest technolo-
gy. “I love technology. My dad
has been working with comput-
ers since before I was born. He
set up the computer program at
Northern Arizona University in
Flagstaff in 1972,” Dr. Scheuer-
man said, “I was really, really
excited about this technology.”
No taking an impression, no
sending it to the lab to make
the crown, no temporary crown,
no return visits. Now, that’s a
good use of technology.

She is a graduate of Vernonia
High School and returned to
her “roots”, from Hawaii and
Alaska in 1995.
Henk joined Nancy in real
estate sales in 2006. Prior to
his career move, Henk was a
professional hi-tech mover for
over 30 years. He enjoys help-
ing people find their perfect
home!. His hobby is wrestling
and helping the youth in our
community. Henk, a two-time
Olympian (1968 and 1972) in
Greco-Roman and Free-Style
wrestling, and a ten time Na-
tional Champion, recently start-
ed volunteering his time with
the Vernonia High School
wrestling team.
