Page 20 The INDEPENDENT, December 18, 2008 Board agrees to bus to private schools From page 17 • Referred, with regret, an FFA request for reimbursement of certain unforeseen expenses at the national conference to the Parent Club. • Heard that community soft- ball equipment could be re- placed for about $5,000. The original replacement cost esti- mate was $9,000 for the equip- ment stored on district property and destroyed by fire. Levear is working on an agreement to ensure that any future liability would be absorbed by the com- munity group, rather than by the district. • Agreed to continue bus services, as required by law, for private school students on reg- ular bus routes only. No addi- tional mileage should be charged to the district for these students. • Entered a document re- cently recovered from paper files, “A History of Banks Union High School” into the official record of the meeting. It was written by the Senior Class of 1951, with Mrs. Eunice Pope, Sponsor. Cornelius-Schefflin Road to close From page 14 also be widened to match the width of the completed sec- tions, and to replace the bridge at Council Creek. The new bridge will be raised above the 100-year flood elevation and span the wetlands, returning Council Creek to its natural stream width and natural flow pattern. The new bridge will be wide enough to meet the needs of trucks, autos, farm equip- ment, bicyclists and pedestri- ans. Funding for the project comes from the Oregon Trans- portation Investment Act (OTIA) and the county’s Major Streets Transportation Im- provement Program (MSTIP).
