ville Park Committee and that
she “really wants to get in-
volved.” Council approved her
appointment to the open parks
committee position.
Christi Gregor, from Friends
of Greenville City Park, re-
quested that the city accept the
donation of the Greenville City
Park Playground and continue
to maintain it in the future. The
private organization collected
donations and applied and re-
ceived grants to purchase and
install the equipment, park
benches and picnic tables.
Branstitre commented that the
park is full of kids playing on
the equipment and thanked
Gregor and the Friends of
Greenville City Park for their ef-
forts. Councilor Brian Biehl
added that he received a com-
plaint that the park is always
busy now, instead of quiet, con-
cluding that “you can’t please
everyone.”
Hough reported that the an-
nual chamber social and mem-
bership appreciation night din-
ner will be on Monday, Septem-
ber 8 at 5:00 p.m. at the Orien-
tal Garden Restaurant.
The Banks Chamber Green
Team Committee is working
with the city to establish certi-
fied Recycle At Work business-
es in Banks; the city staff is
working on certification.
The next council meeting will
be Tuesday, September 9, at
7:30 p.m. in City Hall.

Did You Know…
From page 18
mine, and prescription stimu-
lants. The report suggests that
marijuana production is wide-
spread and increasing in scale
and, despite the fact that
methamphetamine lab produc-
tion is down by 96 percent, the
availability of meth has not di-
minished as Mexican drug traf-
fickers are importing product
from labs in Mexico and out-
side Oregon. Serious metham-
phetamine crime continues to
be a daily problem here in Ore-
gon. This is also evident in the
Vernonia area with numerous
metal thefts in the area, other
property
crimes,
and
abused/neglected children is-
sues. The next tier of abuse is
of heroin, cocaine, and pre-
scription drugs. All three have
been evident here in Vernonia,
with prescription drug use as
the most prevalent. If you
would like to read the entire re-
port I have placed a copy out-
side the front window of the PD
and can print you a copy if you
desire.
