Obituary
DALE BIGHAM
Dale Bigham, 81, Hillsboro, died
March 4, 2008. A service has been
held.
Mr. Bigham was born August 31,
1926, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He
moved to Oregon in the early 1940s.
In 1948, he married Marjorie R.
Findell. They made their home in Port-
land before moving to Banks in 1972,
then to Hillsboro in 1980. He was a
minister at Eastside Bible Church and
Shadybrook Bible. He owned and oper-
ated Golden Rule Custodial.
He was preceded in death by his
wife.
Survivors include one son, David
Anthony; three daughters, Becky
Bigham, Dorothy Castro and Elizabeth
Penner; one sister, Carol Jeane Rus-
sell; five grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
Remembrances are suggested to
the Alzheimer’s Association, 1311 NW
21st Ave., Portland, OR 97209.

in charge of arrangements.
DAYDRA R. EVANS-CHASTEEN
Daydra R. Evans-Chasteen, 34,
Hillsboro, died March 10, 2008. A me-
morial service was held March 15 at Fir
Lawn Mortuary in Hillsboro.
Ms. Evans-Chasteen was born
March 21, 1973, in Portland. She was
raised in Banks and graduated from
Banks High School. She moved to
Hillsboro 18 years ago. She had
worked for Good Shepherd Home. For
the last six years, she had been a
homemaker.
Survivors include her companion,
Mark Johnson; two sons, Taren Evans
and Riley Mayhew; a daughter, Erika
Mayhew; two brothers, Dezmond and
Derek Evans.
Fir Lawn Mortuary in Hillsboro was
in charge of arrangements.
FREDA “IRENE” HICKMAN
Freda “Irene” Hickman, 89, Hills-
boro, died March 10, 2008. A memorial
service was held March 19 in the Tual-
ity Plains Presbyterian Church in Hills-
boro. Private interment was in Tuality
Plains Presbyterian Cemetery.
Mrs. Hickman was born October 1,
1918, in Mountaindale, to Page and
Meta (Hansen) Gardner. She was
raised in Mountaindale and graduated
from Banks High School in 1936.
In 1938, she married George Hick-
man. They followed her husband’s ca-
reer in logging, living in Bacona,
Cherry Grove, the Trask and then in
Grants Pass in 1946. After they di-
vorced in 1973, she moved to Hillsboro
in 1978. As a young girl, she worked in
her father’s store, Troutman and Gard-
ner Grocery, in North Plains. As an
adult, she worked in the electronics in-
dustry, retiring from Intel in 1981.
She was preceded in death by a
son, Leslie, and her brother, Elmo
Gardner.
Survivors include a son, Douglas
Hickman of Hillsboro; one daughter,
Ruth Ann Odell of Beaverton; one sis-
ter, Elaine Olsen of Cornelius; two
grandchildren and two great-grandchil-
dren.
Remembrances are suggested to
the American Alzheimer’s Association.

KENNETH EUGENE PARKER
Kenneth Eugene Parker, 49, Banks,
died March 26, 2008. A funeral service
will be held April 5, at 3:00 p.m. in
Westside Community Church in Aloha.
Mr. Parker was born December 3,
1958, in Seattle, Washington. He
moved to Beaverton in 1965 and grad-
uated from Aloha High School. He
worked as a plumber for Hillsboro
Plumbing.
In 1998, he married Christine Stor-
ga. They moved to Banks in 2005.
Survivors include his wife; three
daughters, Samantha J., Alexandra N.
and Kaitlyn M.; one stepson, Jason; his
mother, Rebecca J. Dawson; his father,
Eugene L.; a brother, Stephen G.; three
stepbrothers, Michael Dawson, Grego-
ry Dawson and William Dawson; a
niece who was raised as a sister,
Rachel J. Hobbs; and one grandchild.
Remembrances are suggested to
St. Vincent Hospice.

DOLORES I. VARNER
Dolores I. Varner, 81, Forest Grove,
died March 20, 2008. A life celebration
was held March 29 at North Plains Se-
nior Center. Private interment has been
held.
Mrs. Varner was born December 12,
1926, in Vancouver, Washington, to
Helmer and Rigmore Hellis Isakson.
She was raised in Oregon.
In 1946, she married Melvin K.
Varner. They moved to Forest Grove in
1960. She was a homemaker and was
the lead singer in the “Golden Oldies
Band, based at the Vernonia Senior
Center. The band played at area senior
centers.
She was preceded in death by her
husband and three brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Steve
Varner and Jay Varner; a daughter,
D’Ann Reid; four brothers; a sister; nine
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchil-
dren.
Remembrances are suggested to
the Vernonia Senior Center, 446 Bridge
St., Vernonia, OR 97064, or American
