See page 5 Vernonia Night Out plans family fun, food The third annual Vernonia Night Out will be Tuesday, Au- gust 21, 5-7:00 p.m., at Ander- son Park. Once again, Vernonia Night Out will feature a free bar- beque, prizes, free admission, demonstrations, freebies, mu- sic, police, fire and ambulance vehicles. Join your neighbors and take a stand against crime and violence at Vernonia Night Out, presented by the Vernonia Po- lice Department. This 160 foot, 175 year-old Douglas fir will replace a deteriorating spar tree in the display of logging equipment at Camp 18. The tree was felled by Camp 18 owner Gordon Smith. Gustafson Logging, Nygaard Logging, both of Astoria, and Pellham Cutting, Inc., St. Helens, donated their services for this project.
