Oral history training to be offered
The Columbia County Cul-
tural Coalition is sponsoring an
Oral History training session,
June 23 from 10:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m., at the Community
Cultural Center in Clatskanie.
The cost is $35 including lunch.
on the Bicycle Skills Park,

In addition to the Bike Skills
Park, the Conditional Use re-
quest will include the develop-
ment of a Skateboard Park, the
new Senior Center, a Mill Inter-
pretive Center, and an Event

property on the site.

Road Rally was a lot of fun for
ducks and fish. You can’t class
it as déjà vu either. 2006 (if you
recall) it was hot and dry.
Sleeveless shirts and shorts
weather, no breeze and drink
anything that was cool. This
year we had RAIN, wind and
mud. For clothing, I personally
had on hat, gloves, t-shirt, long
sleeve shirt, heavy vest and
winter windbreaker.
A warning – I got a postcard
in the mail the other day – It
may not be a scam, but to me it

The Vernonia Pioneer Muse-
um Association’s May Museum
Talk will be held Sunday, May
20, at 2:00 p.m. with Mark
Greathouse. A descendant of
the Malmsten family, Great-
house will discuss his ances-
tors, who were early home-
steaders in the Vernonia area.
This event will be held at the
Vernonia Pioneer Museum,
555 E. Bridge Street.

opinion – don’t ask or draw my
attention to something askew.

Hearing on Skills Park on May 17
The Skills Park Group, along
with project planner Ric Balfour
and Associates, has been hard
at work completing the Master
Plan for the park development,
and are ready to request per-
mission to begin construction!
On Thursday, May 17, at
7:00 p.m. at City Hall, they will
present their plan, and request
a Conditional Use Permit at a
Hearing before the City Plan-
ning Commission. If you are in-
terested in getting an update
