Microchips and rabies vaccinations will be available at dog licensing clinic in Vernonia

At the dog licensing clinics,
rabies vaccinations will be
$8.00 and micro chipping will
be done for $20.00. The Ver-
nonia clinic will be held January
6 at Vernonia Middle School
from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Other clinics will be held
around the county and a “last
chance” clinic will be held Feb-
ruary 17, at Columbia County
Animal Shelter in St. Helens.
Dog owners are asked to
join Animal Control in their ef-
forts to license all dogs in the
county and to create a safe
haven for dogs from any
chance of a rabies outbreak.

Rabies has resulted in the
deaths of over 3,000 people in
China and the estimated exter-
mination of over 500,000 dogs.
These types of exterminations
are kept in check in the U.S.
due to on-going efforts to vacci-
nate animals.
Funds from the licensing of
dogs provides direct support of
the operations of the County
Animal shelter, rescue activi-
ties, abused and neglected an-
imal investigations and other
animal related issues within
Columbia County.
