They will also wear blue coats if
the weather requires it.
The Sheriff’s Posse was
formed in 1945. Today there
are 21 active members who
give their time to train and per-
form services throughout the
county all year long. Most peo-
ple see the Posse as it repre-
sents the Sheriff’s Office in nu-
merous parades and at the
Washington County Fair.
The Posse is a volunteer or-
ganization that is financially
supported by membership
dues, fundraisers, and private
donations.
The Sheriff’s Posse will be
on its last seasonal patrol at
Washington Square Mall this
Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m. When you see them,
please waive or tip your hat to
show your appreciation for their
fine work!
Washington County’s Land
Use and Transportation De-
partment will continue to offer
free storm debris drop-off at the
Hillsboro Stadium through Sat-
urday, December 23.
Only tree trunks, limbs or
branches, may be dropped off.
No building materials or gener-
al yard debris will be accepted.
Debris may be taken to the
west end of Hillsboro Stadium,
4400 NW 229th Avenue,
through Saturday, December
23. Gates will be open from
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
County road crews worked
through the weekend, clearing
debris and trees from roads.

Right; the wind storm that
came through the area on
December 14, and knocked
out power, left this mess of
wires on a broken power
pole on Main Street in
Banks. This picture was tak-
en on December 15.
