September 12 - 28, 2005
On September 24, at approxi-
mately 4:20 p.m., a 1984 Chevy
Suburban driven by Dennis Nicks,
57, Vernonia, attempted to turn
across the eastbound lane of
Scappoose-Vernonia Hwy. into a
gravel pullout. A 2002 Yamaha
motorcycle driven by Keith
Pinkstaff, 49, Portland, rounded
the curve and crashed into the
passenger side of the Suburban.
Pinkstaff, who was wearing a
helmet, was pronounced dead at
the scene.
Ronald Travis Wallace, 43, Ver-
nonia, accepted diversion on DUII;
to be evaluated, pay court costs,
and treatment recommended, 1 yr
probation.
Denise Alberta Rosenstiel, 44,
Forest Grove, accepted diversion
on DUII; to be evaluated, pay court
costs, and treatment recommend-
ed, 1 yr probation.
Tony Lee Chapman, 31, Deer
Island, pled guilty to Hit & Run; 1
yr probation, 1 yr jail - suspended,
