Page 25 Columbia County Sheriff’s Office On September 12, shortly after 6:00 p.m. a twenty five mile long, high speed pursuit ended on a dead end street in Vernonia. Ryan Flori, 26, St. Helens, was driving a stolen 1994 Ford Thunderbird when Sheriff’s Deputy Dustin Hald, while pa- trolling near Bachelor Flat Rd., noticed the Ford did not have a front license plate. Hald recog- nized Flori and knew there were outstanding warrants on Flori. When Deputy Hald attempt- ed to stop him, Flori fled. The chase went over Cater Hill Rd. to Scapoose Vernonia Hwy to Hwy 47 and into Vernonia. The chase ended when Flori was forced to take a dead end street. Inside the stolen vehicle offi- cers found a loaded .44 Mag- num handgun, a loaded 12- gauge sawed off shotgun, and a small amount of metham- phetamine. Flori has been charged with two Felony Warrants, Attempt- ing to Elude, Reckless Driving, PCS II (meth.), Felon in Pos- session of a Firearm (2), Pos- session of a Short Barreled Shotgun, Unlawful Use of a Ve- hicle, Unlawful Entry into a Ve- hicle, and four counts of Reck- less Endangering. Deputy Hald was assisted by the St. Helens Police De- tional Cemetery in Portland. Mr. Fisher was born September 25, 1929, in Portland, to Robert Arthur Fisher and Grace Alice (Fuller) Stubbs. He was raised by his stepfather, George Edward Stubbs, Sr., and moth- er in Forest Grove. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He worked as a smoke jumper in Montana, as a custodian at Alpenrose Dairy, and as a custodian at Jewell School for three years before retiring. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud Fisher and Robert Fisher. Survivors include his former wife and lifelong companion, Geraldine J. Smith of Jewell; three brothers, George E. Stubbs, Jr. of Elsie, Leonard G. Stubbs of Hillsboro, and Clayton V. “Buck” Stubbs of Manzanita; three sis- ters, Mabel E. White of Gresham, Flo- rella F. Bullock of Portland, and Mae A. Publish September 15, 2005 Obituary JEFFREY A. AEH Jeffrey A. Aeh, 51, Vernonia, died September 6, 2005. A memorial service was held September 10, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Aeh was born June 10, 1954, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Robert and Joan Van Antwerp. He worked for Tektronix and lived in Hillsboro before moving to Vernonia. Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Richard, Charles, and Bruce; one sister, Lisa Johnson, three step- brothers, Jesse Van Antwerp, Donovan Van Antwerp, and James Van Antwerp; one stepsister, Linda Boyd. Remembrances are suggested to Providence Hospice. GWYNETH JEAN CASON Gwyneth Jean Cason, 77, Banks, died September 11, 2005. Mrs. Cason was born February 28, 1928, in Oregon City, to Owen A. and Violet (Watts) Parry. When she was a toddler, the family moved to Banks where she was raised. In 1947, she married Plummer Frank Cason. They made their home on a farm on Green Mountain Road. They raised strawberries, and she worked at the Banks Flea Market in the 70’s and 80’s. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Kenny and Harley Parry. Survivors include four sons; Randy of Gales Creek, Richard of Forest Grove, Steven of Hillsboro, and Kevin of Buxton; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; nieces and nephews. A celebra- tion of life was held August 31, in Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove, with the Rev. Richard E. Osburn officiating. Mr. Durant was born November 17, 1980, in Avon Park, Florida, to Bryan Lester and Pamela Jane (Buckhannon) Fritz. He was raised in Hillsboro and Banks and attended Banks High School. He worked for an underground utility company installing fiber optic lines. He is survived by his parents; his grandparents, Nancy Myrtle Bowen and Raymond and Alice Fritz, all of Cornelius; two brothers, Jessie L. Buckhannon and Daniel J. Funeral services were held September 3, at Forest Grove Memorial Chapel, fol- lowed by interment in Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro. Mr. Forrest was born February 5, 1932, in Scofield, to Andrew Lewis and Gladys May Forrest. He graduated from Estacada High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Ko- rean conflict. In 1960, he married Shirley Ann Nicholson. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Portland for 27 years, retiring in 1994. He was preceded in death by two brothers, his twin, Bob, and Lewis; three sisters, Maxine Davis, Rosetta Davis, and Pinky Krouse. Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick of Tillamook; five daughters, Cheryl Forrest of Hillsboro, Cathy Abouzeiter, and Valerie McCleary, both of Vancouver, Washington, Beth For- rest of Aloha, and Kay Forrest of Gre- sham; two brothers, Jack Davis of Sweet Home, and Larry Davis; two sis- ters, Bonnie Bailey of Estacada, and Alma Leonard of Lincoln City; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
