am. She has been enter-
taining children, 3-5 years
old, in the Banks area for
the past six years. She
brings a wonderful selec-
tion of books to pique your
child’s interest.
The theme for Septem-
ber 7th is “ Here We Go Again.”
We have added to the children’s section with
these great new books:
Minnie & Moo and the Seven Wonders of the
World by Denys Cazet. Minnie and Moo are the
best of friends. Moo has her books; Minnie has
her espresso machine. Farm life is good, almost
perfect…until Moo overhears the not-so-good
news that the farmer needs money so desper-
ately that he must sell the farm. Minnie and Moo
embark on a marvelous adventure to save the
farm.
The Ghost of Sir Herbert Dungeonstone by
Kate McMullan. There are big changes at DSA.
A new student has arrived…and she’s a girl.
Janice is big and strong and better than all the
boys at sword fighting and jousting. Erica’s hap-
py – she can finally stop masquerading as a boy.
Mordred the headmaster is happy – he has a big
bag from Janice’s rich parents. And Wiglaf is
happy – his mischievous pet dragon is off visiting
family and can’t cause trouble for a while.
Sounds like everything at dear old DSA is fine
and dandy, right? Wrong! Because a vengeful
ghost is on the loose, determined to get back his
stolen treasure or destroy the school.
The Wild, Wild West by Geronimo Stilton. Rat-
munching rattlesnakes, was I excited! I was on a
wagon train to the wild, wild West. But before
you could say “hi-ho cowboy,” I found myself in a
showdown with the wickedest rat in all of Cactus
City. All I wanted was to ride off into the sunset
with the wind in my whiskers…but the way things
were going, I’d be lucky to escape with my tail!
B is for Beaver, an Oregon Alphabet by Marie
and Roland Smith. The authors weave a rhyming
text with informative state facts taking readers
through the alphabet beginning with Astoria, a
fort built long ago, to a taste of marionberries
and the state beverage, milk. Discover the City
of the Roses and the capital, Salem. Finish this
wonderful journey at the 100-year-old Oregon
Zoo.
The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Ander-
sen. With its feisty heroine, Gerda, who will stop
at nothing, its talking crows and conjuring old
crone, its mysterious Snow Queen, and its tri-
umph of love and innocence over wickedness
and cynicism, The Snow Queen is a classic to be
rediscovered.
