The INDEPENDENT, August 18, 2005 Page 11 Jamboree Fishing Derby nets 78 kids Sunny skies and hot weath- er greeted 78 participants at the 2005 Vernonia Jamboree Fishing Derby, who did not seem to be bothered by the heat at all. The longest fish caught, by Drew Siemiller of Forest Grove, was 10 inches. Eli Miller of Ver- nonia won the overall most fish with 10 catches. Other winners, by age group, were: The Nehalem Valley Chapter of the Izaak Walton League sponsors the annual kids’ fish- ing derby. Below, Jess Lucas picks up his 2nd place prizes.
