A note from Vernonia High School
journalism instructor Jessica
Streeter:
I feel extremely honored to have
the privilege to work with a group
of such dedicated and responsible
students. This year has seen many
changes in the journalism pro-
gram, not least of which is our deci-
sion to publish student work in The
Independent. Doing this for our
students, gives them the opportu-
nity to write for a broader and
more diverse audience. Also this
year we have an exciting addition
to the year-book/journalism class,
a new program. With this program,
which is actually entirely web-
based, we hope to produce a more
professional and appealing year-
book. In addition, the website has
the capacity for community mem-
bers to upload their own pictures
for staff use. Not only does this give
the opportunity for non-staff
members to participate, it gives
more coverage and a chance for
everyone to be represented in this
year’s book. I would like to invite
anyone to email me for the login
and password at <jstreeter@ ver-
nonia.k12.or.us >. The only restric-
tion is that the pictures must be 3.2
mega pixel or higher to be useable
in the program, scanned images
are acceptable..
