Washington chosen for speedway
There will not be a NASCAR
speedway in Scappoose, ac-
cording to the Oregon Sports
Authority. The International
Speedway Corporation (ISC)
will pursue a site in Marysville,
Washington, for the Northwest

speedway. If the effort in Wash-
ington is unsuccessful, ISC will
revisit their options in Oregon.
According to Port airport
representative Kim Shade,
“ISC… was concerned about
traffic during race days.”
“We are disappointed that
ISC did not choose an Oregon
site, however we made ISC
aware that the Port is prepared
should they see the need to re-
visit the Scappoose site. We
know it is a good site,” said
Port Executive Director Peter
Williamson.
