The third annual Vernonia
Football Camp will be held, Au-
gust 9 through 12, at Vernonia
High School football field.
Grades 3 – 8 will meet at 5-
6:30 p.m. and grades 9 – 12
will be 7-9:00 p.m. The cost will
be $30 payable to Vernonia
High School. All funds will go to
the Vernonia football teams.
Participants should bring
shorts, a t-shirt and, preferably,
cleats. Coaching will be provid-
ed by junior high and high
school coaches.
Registration for fall football
for grades 3 through 6, will be
on Monday, August 9 at the
football camp.
Providence Medical Group
will be offering free physicals
for students at Vernonia High
School on Tuesday, August 10
from 8:15 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Ap-
pointments must be scheduled
in advance. All necessary pa-
perwork and scheduling can be

4-H Poker Ride
in St. Helens.
Columbia County 4-H Horse
Leaders will hold a Poker Ride
August 7 on Dowd Road in St.
Helens. Registration will start
at 9:30 a.m.
There will be lots of prizes
and a food stand. Entry will be
$5 a hand or five hands for
$20. Prizes will be awarded at
2:00 p.m. This event will be a
benefit for the 4-H Horse Lead-
ers.
From Hwy 30, take Sykes
Road to the “Y”, go right at the
“Y” onto Brooks-Dowd Road,
go 2-1/2 miles up Dowd. Watch
