Campfires are prohibited in the woods

and Clatsop counties.
“Fireworks have no place in
areas with flammable vegeta-
tion,“ said Mike Simek, Protec-
tion Unit Forester at Columbia
City.
Open fires are prohibited, in-
cluding campfires, charcoal
fires, and cooking fires, except
at designated locations. Port-
able cook stoves using lique-
fied or bottled fuels are al-
lowed.

operation site and provide a
watchman on each operation
after equipment is shut down.
Fire season rules also prohibit
smoking while in or traveling
through any “operation area,”
and prohibit the use of fuse and
caps for blasting on forest land.
In addition, all backyard de-
bris burning, both in piles and
barrels, is banned during fire
season in Columbia County.
