Seniors, join the “Monday
Movers” in walking each Mon-
day at 9:00 a.m. at Vernonia
Lake to celebrate the theme;
“Older Americans… Aging
Well”! See you Mondays!
We had a great time
Wednesday, May 26, singing
and two-stepping with the
Golden Oldies Band, Bill Yeo’s
spoons, and enjoying Jamie’s
good home-cooked meal, plus
a wonderful from The Grove’s
Assisted Living ladies, who
brought the works: strawberry
shortcake, angel food cake, ice
cream, whipped cream, cher-
ries, nuts, chocolate fudge top-
ping – What a deal! They’ll be
back in June, watch this col-
umn for the date.
Our Tuesday quilting ladies
– Louise Hamnett, Faith
Reynolds, and Susan Good-
hope – would like to invite any-
one who can use a pencil, hold
scissors, or sew a straight
seam to join them on the first
Tuesday of every month to put
together “comfort quilts” for
young victims who have been
traumatized in some manner.

Seniors: Community Action
Team and Columbia County
Legal Aid wish to make legal
services available to seniors,
60 years and older, residing in
Columbia County. This service
period will end June 30, 2004.

Yard of the Month
Ross and Debbie Smith, 1551 Heather Lane, have earned the honor of Yard of the Month for June.
4-H car wash planned
Saturday, June 5, will be a
great day to have your car
washed as 4-H members
throughout Columbia County
will be washing cars as a
fundraiser for Friends of Co-
lumbia County Fair. All pro-
ceeds will be used for 4-H pre-
miums at the Columbia County
Fair.
The car wash will be held
from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at
the Vernonia Mini Mart. There
will also be car washes in
Scappoose, St. Helens, Rain-
ier, and Clatskanie.
4-H members are also pre-
selling tickets now for only
$4.00. No buses or RV’s
please! County-wide co-coordi-
nators are Matt Gibson at 503-
728-4675 and Ashley Ekstrom

Vacation Bible
School to start
The SonHarvest County
Fair, a Vacation Bible School
that children will never forget,
is being sponsored again by
the Vernonia Christian Church.
SonHarvest County Fair is fun
and exciting, a place where
children learn to apply Biblical
teaching to their lives.
Children will enjoy singing,
watching skits, creating crafts,
learning about our missions,
having yummy snacks and
playing games.
Children going into Kinder-
garten through Grade 6 are in-
vited to share in this exciting
event. The SonHarvest County
Fair begins June 14 and con-
tinues through June 18 at 410
North St., from 9:00 a.m. to

Ella Elizabeth Morrison was
born May 21, 2004, to Kim and
Jim Morrison of Vernonia. She
weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces
and was 20 inches long.
She joins her brother, Bailey,
at the family home.
