Chalk Talk
Chalk Talk is a monthly column of information about
Vernonia schools. It is written by various staff mem;
bers.
By Curtiss J. Scholl
Principal, Vernonia High School
So far, this year has gone by very quickly. I would like to take
this opportunity to remind seniors and parents of seniors that
graduation will be here before we know it. Seniors need to be sure
there are no surprises this spring and check with their teachers or
our counselor to make sure that they are on track to graduate. It
is important that both students and parents stay informed and
avoid any last minute problems.
On March 9th, we celebrated our winter athletes and their com
pletion of the 2003-2003 winter sport seasons. David Weller,
Waylon Buchan, Malorie Baker, and Joreigh Landers all received
league honors in basketball. Andrew Brookins, Travis Gwin, and
Andrew Grittman qualified for the state wrestling tournament. An
drew Brookins and Travis Gwin both were state champions at
their respective weight classes. Our spring sport programs have
started and they will be competing soon.
The end of the third nine weeks is on April 1, 2004. During the
following week, Thursday April 8th and Friday April 9th, we will
have parent/ teacher conference. On Thursday conferences will
run from 1:30 pm-4:30 pm and 5:30 pm-8:30 pm. On Friday the
conferences will run from 8:00 am-11:30 am. If there are any oth
er questions, please contact the high school at 429-3521.
