Did you

caught
up in the hot weather, short
temper game?
What do I mean? Every time
I went out to cool off my flow
ers, my hose attacked me.
Kinking, squirting and tangling
around my feet; or was I just
stumbling from the heat?
Seemed like Shadow wanted to
race around the lake at 8:00
p.m. and I just wanted to creep
around in the cool.
In the house, I found more
dust than usual. I suppose run
ning several fans can keep the
dust flying instead of letting it
settle down. It seems I found
more dust bunnies and cob
webs with dog and cat hair at
tached, so my vacuum cleaner
cord attacked my feet at every
pull and turn and the hose kept
whacking me in the back when
I’d turn the wrong way. How do
you talk to inanimate objects
when they misbehave? I know,
hire someone to do it for you.
Or was it the heat?
Also, it seems I had more
dirty dishes than normal, mak-

ing cool meals. That seems
strange, until you figure all the
cooking you have to do to make
an easy cool meal. Ho-Ho!
My view of Jamboree:
Friday - quiet, but busy...in
the evening, went to the St. He
lens Synchro Fire swim team -
they work hard to perfect those
routines to look easy.
Saturday - Helped get the 5-
1/2K runners on their way. They
headed off the parade.
Oh, those beautiful Harleys
- lots of them (they were in
three groups) throughout the
parade. Lots more entries in
the parade than last year. Very
r- well received by all.

The Senior Center had an
auction in their parking lot. I
deem it a success - we sold all
but about six items in an hour
and a half. (I know, I cataloged
85 of the items - wound up with
close to 95). There were two
boats with motor and trailer and
even a DVD, CD, VCR in the
mix.
Saturday evening, you could
visit and listen to Elvis at the
Grange Hall or, as I did, go to
the sing-along, Christian style,
on the Com m unity Church
lawn, with local folks and John
ny Ray.
Sunday morning church
service with Johnny Ray Wat
son, as always, was very uplift
ing. He is a beautiful man in
every sense of the word. He is
a servant of God.
I didn’t go to the log show -
it turned COOL. I went home,
turned up the heat and rested.
Most all of the company has
gone home to get the kids
ready for Back to School.
Seems sort of quick, but August

has a lot to offer yet.
August 17 was the Old
Timers Picnic. August 22 is the
Senior Center Picnic at Ander
son Park - The Golden Oldies
are furnishing the music. I real
ly don’t know what we would do
without them. They make you
laugh, cry, smile, reminisce,
sing and tap your feet, or if you
can, dance, if not, just clap your
hands. Any Senior is welcome
to join us. Come in to the cen
ter and sign up so we will know
how many to prepare for.
Also, the City Wide Yard
Sale is coming up on Septem
ber 20. Time to rid yourself of
all the summer things that won’t
fit next spring. You know styles
change for the young.
Just a Dig - I noticed the
horse on the path around the
lake was back by Sunday after
noon (8/03). Nuff said.
What it takes to pick those
very small blackberries at the
lake. #1 - Clippers, #2 - a
bucket, sun hat, long sleeves,
iron pants, heavy shoes and
patience. But oh, are they good
- may take one pie to the Se
nior Picnic.
Tip of the Week: Wear a hat
in cold weather. A full 50 per
cent of body heat escapes
through your head. So why
wear a hat in Summer when its
95 plus? So you don’t sunburn
your nose, silly.
- and by the bee - If you are
behind a car on 47 doing less
than 45 or so, consider this:
Maybe they left home early or
they are enjoying the scenery.
Don’t shove them, slow down
yourself and when you get the
chance - pass them.
Have a nice day.
