One more time - Summer is here?? Anyway, it got hot -
too hot for me - I stayed inside, except for short sorties to the
grocers and late eves to walk Shadow.
By now, things are different at the Senior Center - No
more ColCo in the front office - Maybe that space can be
come a chat room for those who would like to express
thoughts privately.
I worry about the “Meals on Wheels” folk, but I’m sure that
won’t be dropped by the Senior Center. We will, somehow,
I’m sure, take care of our folks.
Better Rate.
Better Bank.
Better Hurry.
It seems to me that when folks get sent to a State Capitol or Washington D.C.,
they forget how to "make do” with the $$ they have in hand. You cannot rob Peter
to pay Paul, not even once, without someone getting hurt. If you ain’t got it - don’t
spend it. If you do, there is interest to pay.
The swimming pool is filled and in full use. It sounds good — hearing Summer
laughter at the river. Does it bring back any “Swimming Hole” memories to you?
Mine are at the mouth of Tanner Creek - where the undertow pulls you out into the
Columbia River - in 1932-33 while Bonneville Dam was being built. I was a third
grader, but still remember the fun and near tragedies. Kids have no fear and don’t
listen to advice when it comes to summer fun.
I hope you made it to the Museum Open House, the weather was perfect. The
Golden Oldies were well received; they set up in the front yard
and it sounded very nice as you drove by. The plaque is beside
the front door, come in Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.,
got a large group coming to town, contact the Museum. By the
way, an Old Timer answered my ? — where does the train go and
etc. Starts in Banks - goes to Florence - through the timber — now
carries lumber and produce. Used to be it carried sightseers - she
had taken one of the rides - Wouldn’t it be neat to take the tour.
Have you noticed the activity around the Lake? Oh, what a re
freshing odor, new mown grass and etc. emits into the air. It opens
up the view at the lake and widens the feeling of freedom on the
path, also, putting crushed rock alongside the path gives solid
footing to those who step off for passing bikers, skateboarders or
other fast moving objects - some on wheels don’t announce their
presence behind you before they’re on your buns. Thank you all
who worked so hard in the heat to make the park ready for July
4th crowds, as well as Vernonia Days. Do I make the cookies for
the Water Dept. crew again?
Who else helped??? Yes, I did
he arm tore

Something to ponder:
If you’re heading for Kauai,
Hawaii, take an umbrella. It
