chokers for Crown Zellerbach,
then Van Fleet Logging, until
he was hit by a haul-back block
(about 300 pounds) and so
many ribs were broken that he
was laid up for 6 months. After
a stint as a businessman, Joe
went to work for Lyman
Hawkens, delivering bulk oil
and fuels for Standard Oil
Company. He managed the
Hawkens’ operation for a num
ber of years, continuing when
the distributorship was pur
chased by Wilcox & Flegel in
1979, and worked until retiring
in 1982.
Joe and Trudy have two
daughters and four grandchil
dren who they enjoy very
much. Gardening, reading, the
senior citizen center and the
Grange now keep the Magoffs
busy.
Joe and Trudy say they love
this small and friendly town,
and feel good having lived here
for so many years!
