The Vernonia Police Depart­
ment would like to alert those
under 18 and their parents that
Vernonia has a curfew. No one
under 18 is to be out between
the hours of 10:00 p.m. and
5:00 a.m., Sunday through
Thursday and 11:00 p.m. and
5:00 a.m. on Friday and Satur­
day.
Exceptions include travel to
and from work and other legiti­
mate activities.

May 31 - VPD advised of possi­
ble domestic disturbance off
Keasey Road and given descrip­
tion of vehicle enroute to Vernonia.
John P. Ogden was cited for DWS
and driving uninsured. He and his
passenger, Betty J. Childress-Pe­
terson were held on scene until
CCSO units arrived.
June 3 - Suicide attempt report
ed on A St. Person transported to
hospital by Metro West.
- Bicycle reported stolen from
Washington Grade School.
June 6 - Dennis Coates, 20, Ft.
Lewis, WA, cited for MIP and open
container.
June 9 - Threatening note re­
ported by school officials: adminis­
trative action taken.
- School officials reported that a
car had been placed on the front
walkway at VHS, the air was let out
of the tires and it was chained to
the walk posts. At least seven
youth apparently were involved.
Damage to a concrete Sun Dial
also occurred. Total cost of the
criminal mischief was about $500.
June 11 - Assisted OSP with
accident and DUII on Hwy 202.
June 12 - Telephone Harass­
ment reported. Determined not to
be a crime.
- Investigated report of illegal
camping at north end of Oregon
Street. Determined to be outside of
the city limits.
- Report of dog vs. dog bite in­
cident on N. Mist Drive. Case
turned over to Columbia County
Animal Control.
June 14 - Investigating possible
assault of a woman who was found
unconscious at a local phone
booth after she called 9-1-1; she
was transported to a hospital.
June 15 - Residents on Bridge
Street reported a careless driver
with license plate XKH 525. Offi­
cers are investigating.
