Bits and Bites
Spring has sprung a leak. Don’t plant
your color spots at the corner where your
rain gutter’s downspout is. Mine are minia
ture Niagra Falls and my Primroses are
learning to back paddle to stay afloat.
Any Boy Scout working for a badge? Any
church youth group looking for something to
do? Believe it or not, several elderly people
in this town, like myself, have no one and no
______________ _ _ one to call on when they need spry young
fellows, in a pinch, to do stuff like climb a ladder and clean out a
rain gutter. Is there a list of such people anywhere? Who do you
call? Most males I know are either too young or too old, too heavy
or broken down in the back, and it isn’t safe for them to do such
activities.
Flashes - The Canada geese are gone from the lake. I haven’t
seen the Beaver for a week now, so he must have ridden a wave
down river, (or hooked).
St. Pats is gone, cleaning up Vernonia and walking the trail are
almost a memory. Spring Break is gone and the end of school is
in the air. Did you know Elvis has left the Senior Center Building?
He’s been entertaining during lunch for several weeks, but says
he’ll be back when he can. He presented the center with thank
you’s and a framed picture of himself.
Easter is coming the 20th of April. The folks of the Community
Choir are hard at work on this year’s production, “The Alpha and
the Omega," to be performed at the Washington Grade School
Gym on Friday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m., two performances on Satur
day, the 19th, 4:00 and 7:30 p.m. Plan to attend, and attend the
church of your choice on Easter.
Have you noticed all the sink holes on Highway 47 headed for
Route 26? It takes skill to miss all of them.
Welcome to our new Police Chief.
It seems we have a predator at the lake. I’ve picked up sever
al empty duck eggs along the trail by the wall. Hope they don’t
continued to dine here.
A message from (my dog) Shadow to bike riders. I’m sorry I
frightened you by attacking your bike, but from my point of view,
you came silently from behind and rode through the middle of two
dogs and two people. You presented an unknown danger to all. Be
advised, I attacked the thing that was foreign to me, spinning
things with legs attached. Please, next time give a warning so we
all can get off the path for you. I did not attack you, but the dan
ger to me and my mistress.
From Jacqueline - to those who don’t call out and give walkers
time to identify the call, haul in their dogs and step aside, it is not
a pleasant experience. If dogs can see you approaching them,
they usually leave you alone and their Boss has a chance to get
them under control.
