W ashin gton County. N ow he
can spend m ore tim e with his

ing.

on R ailroad A venue in St. H e
lens fo r a new solid w aste
tra nsfe r station. The proposed
6.38 acre site, at 36525 R ail
road A venue, is in a H eavy In
dustrial (HI) zone in un incorpo
rated C olum bia County.
The C ou nty plans to relocate
and expand facilities currently
lo ca te d at H ig h w a y 30 and
G a b le R oad to in c lu d e a
H o u s e h o ld

(HHW ) D rop Off Facility. C on
struction of the new HHW Fa
cility w ill be funded by a grant
from the O regon D epartm ent of
E nvironm ental Quality.
Purchase of the site is con-
tingent upon the satisfa ction of
several conditions, including a
determ ination of zoning c o m
patibility, approval of an on-site
septic system , an acceptable
appraisal, a level one e n v iro n
m ental report and access. T he
C ounty will begin site and fa c il
ity design planning w hen the
site is a ctu ally purchased.
The C o u n ty ’s goal is to have
a new T ra n s fe r S tatio n and
H ousehold H azardous W aste
D rop-O ff F acility in operation
by the end of the current T ra n s
fer S tation fra nchise in 2005.
