Deadline near to get on state “No Call List
Oregonians who want to
stop most telemarketing calls to
their homes have until March
15 to register for the April Ore
gon No Call List.
The No Call Law, enacted by
the Oregon Legislature in 1999,
gives residential phone cus
tomers the opportunity to get
on the “No Call List” and get off
telemarketers’ lists. Companies
that call homes on the No Call
list are subject to fines of up to
$25,000. To date, Oregon Attor
ney General Hardy Myers has
fined over 60 companies more
than $275,000 for violating the
No Call Law.
The Oregon No Call list is
updated quarterly and is distrib
uted to more than 800 telem ar
keters in 49 states and two for
eign countries. People who
miss the March 15 deadline for
the April list will be still be able
to register for the July list.
55
More than 65,000 Oregonians
have signed up for annual No
Call List subscriptions, which
costs $6.50 for the first year
and $3.00 each year thereafter.
O regon residential phone
customers may subscribe or re
ceive additional inform ation
about the No Call List by calling
toll-free, 1-877-700-NO CALL
(1-877-700-6622), or on the In
