for three to six months at a time. Can
didates need to be empathetic, com

participate in the youth’s recovery as
part of the treatment team. Treatment
Foster Parent homes must meet State
Foster Care certification standards.

1. The contractor shall furnish all labor, ma
terials and equipment necessary tor com
pletion in accordance with the specifica
tions. The work shall consist of: 1. Removal
of old cedar shake roof (disposal shall be
completed by Columbia County); 2. Re
moval and replacement of any damaged
beams, plywood sheeting, metal fix
tures, or any other materials necessary
to complete the project for a sound
structural roof; and 3. Installation of
metai roof and associated metal fixtures
in a color to be determined by the Coun
ty-
4. No bid shall be received or considered by
the County unless the bidder is registered
with the Construction Contractors Board as
required by ORS 671.530. Bidders need not
be licensed under ORS 468.883 (asbestos
contractor).
5. The successful bidder will be required to
furnish a performance bond and/or pay
ment bond and certificates of insurance as
prescribed in the Bid Proposal and Contract
Documents.
6. The County reserves the right to waive
minor informalities, reject any or all bids not
in compliance with all prescribed public bid
ding procedures and requirements, and
may reject for good cause any or all bids if
it is deemed to be in the public interest to do
so.
2. Sealed bids for the work described will be
received by David A. Hill, Director of Public
Works and Parks or his designee, at the
County Forests, Parks and Recreation De
partment, at 1054 Oregon Street, St. He
lens, Oregon 97051, until 10:00 a m. on
Tuesday, March 5, 2002. The bids will be
publicly opened and read at 10:00 a m., on
Tuesday, March 5, 2002. Bids received af
ter this date and time will be returned un
opened.
8 Award of this Contract is contingent
upon County funds being budgeted for
this project.
3. This Contract is for a public work project
which is not expected to be subject to ORS
279.348 to 279.380, or the Davis Bacon Act

April Fools’ concert Monday,
April 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ar
lene Schnitzer Concert Hall,
with Resident Conductor Murry
Sidlin.
A hilarious program of music
chosen by Sidlin will include
Malcolm Arnold’s ‘The Grand,
Grand Overture," originally
composed for a one-night mu
sic festival dedicated to “funny”
music. The work employs three
vacuum cleaners, a floor pol
isher, rifle shots and assorted
percussion instruments. It cul
minates in mayhem as the
piece echoes Tchaikovsky’s
“1812 Overture” and the rifles
“silence" the vacuum cleaners
one by one.
The program will also in
clude a new version of
Prokofiev’s “Peter and the
Wolf,” called “Peter vs. the
Wolf,” in which the Wolf is on
trial for “Duckicide,” followed by
Peter Schickele’s (PDQ Bach)
“Iphigenia in Brooklyn,” a witty
spoof of the cantata form for
“bargain countertenor.”
The concert will end with a
performance of the renowned
final movement of Hayden's
“Farewell” Symphony, in which
players sneak off the stage one
by one by a variety of contem
porary comical ruses that up
date Haydn’s original instruc
tions.
