Foster Parent homes must meet State

Judith Adalyn “Judy" W eeden, 59,
Banks, died January 16, 2002. A pri
vate fam ily service w as held.
M rs. W eeden w as born Ju ly 5,
1942, in Thief River Falls, Minn., to Ole
and Vivian Votava Nelson. She grew up
in Bellingham , W ash. She graduated
from M eridian High School and later re
ceived an associate of arts degree. She
lived in San Jose, Calif., Sisters, and
Stanwood, Wash. She m oved to Banks
in 1983.
In 1985, she m arried O tto Paul
W eeden, Jr. They lived and were w e e k
end farm ers in Banks. She w orked in
com puter-assisted design technology
and as assistant ranch forem an.
Survivors include her husband; five
daughters, Kim berlie R itchey of H ills
boro, Cheryl Ann W ellington and Terrie
W eeden of Payson, Ariz., M ichelle Bon-
nell and Diana H udson of G lendale,
Ariz.; tw o sons, O tto P. Ill of Mesa,
Ariz., and Edward o f England; a sister,

Donald Ray Barlow, 35, died Ja nu
ary 16, 2002. A gathering w as held at
his sister's hom e in Beavercreek.
Mr. Barlow w as bom S eptem ber 18,
1966, in Forest G rove. He graduated
from Vernonia High School in 1982. He
was a construction w orker for Hubco
Excavation for the past three months.
In 1996, he married Tamara Kay
McKinney.
Survivors include his wife; mother,
Alice M. Ellis; father, Darryl D.; sister,
M yrna L. Skou; and grandm others,
Saxon Barlow and Alberta Roberts.
JOHN R. RODMAN
John R obert Rodman, 55, Mist, died
January 15, 2002. Interm ent was at
W illam ette National Cemetery.
Mr. Rodm an was born D ecem ber 6,
1946, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to
A rthur and Rosalie Kardy Rodman. He
grew up in Estacada. He served in the
U.S. Arm y from 1964 to 1967.
He w orked in the tim ber industry for
several years.

Henrietta A nna Jesse, 92, Roy, died
January 18, 2002. A funeral m ass was
celebrated January 24, in St. Francis of
Assisi C atholic C hurch in Roy, with Fa
th er Todd Molinari, celebrant. Interm ent
w as in Union Point Cemetery, Banks.
Mrs. Jesse w as bom April 19, 1909,
in Roy, to John M. and A nna M.
Bernards Vanderzanden. She grew up
in Roy and graduated from Banks High
School. She attended Oregon Normal
School (now W estern Oregon U niversi
ty), where she received her teaching
certificate.
In 1937, she m arried Archie G.
Jesse. They lived in Banks. She taught
elem entary school for 34 years, at
Green M ountain School, Roy, Banks,
W est Union and North Plains.
Mrs. Jesse was a life-long m em ber
of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church
in Roy and a m em ber and past presi
dent of the Oregon Education Associa
tion.
She was preceded in death by her
husband in 1977, and by seven broth
ers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Eldon
of San Francisco, Calif., and Darrell W.
of Tacoma, W ash.; one daughter, M yr
na Daly of Beaverton; tw o sisters,
Agnes Steeves of Pasco, Wash., and
Min Shaw of Portland; eight grandchil
dren;

Mrs. Clark was born A pril 5, 1912, in
Inman, Kansas, to Jesse T. and Elsie
Taylor Nichols. She grew up in Kansas.
She graduated from N ashville, Tenn.,
Academy.
In 1930, she m arried Percy L. Clark.
They m oved from Paradise, C alif., to
Vernonia in 1972. She m oved to North
Plains in 1999. She was a m em ber of
the Vernonia SDA Church.
She was preceded in death by her
husband in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, W illiam
M. of M ountaindale and Gail Lew is of
M ilton-Freew ater; a sister, M ildred N eil
son of Bonanza; five grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren and six great-great
grandchildren.

Alberta M. “Bertie” Mills, 89, H ills
boro, died January 26, 2002. A funeral

C hurch of Forest G rove, officiating. In
term ent was at Riverview A bby M au
soleum in Portland.
Mrs. M ills was bom S eptem ber 12,
1912, in Portland, to Louis E. and
M ignon Dippold DeRock. She grew up
in M ist and attended school in Vernon
ia. She attended O regon State U niver
sity for tw o years.
In 1932, she m arried R ay Mills.
They lived in Vernonia until m oving to
C ornelius in 1951. They ow ned and o p
erated M ills H ardw are and retired in
1972.
Mrs. Mills w as a m em ber of Kappa
D elta S orority of O SU, Eastern Star,
D aughters of the Nile and C hapter EF
o f PEO in Hillsboro.
She was preceded in death by her
husband in 1987; three brothers and
tw o sisters.
Survivors include a son, Loren of
Portland; tw o grandchildren; five g re at
grandchildren and three half-sisters.

Hoffm eister.
In 1939, she m arried R ichard M.
Baker. She w as a hom em aker and
m oved to Vernonia in the 1940’s.
She was preceded in death by her
husband in 2001.
Survivors include three sons, R.
Vaughn, Vance L. and V incent P ; one
daughter, Nita M arie R ogers; 14 grand
children; seven great-grandchildren.
