Spirit of Christmas
Senior News
By Jacqueline Ramsay
2001 is coming to a close. I
hope everyone had a pleasant
Christmas. I got what I asked
Santa for, a pair of warm, wooly
house slippers, and the end of
my week’s stay in bed with a
“bug.”
Much has come and gone. I
missed the Christmas Dinner at
the center— I had potato soup. I
understand about 125 folks
enjoyed the meal and auction.
The center wishes to ex
press a big thank you to all who
gave toward Connie Daven
port’s new tricycle. Be on the
lookout for Connie on her Bug-
mobile.
The wind and rain we had
put a leak in the office at the
center, so, that must be looked
into and corrected before the
next storm hits.
Good News Flash: We will
be back to lunch five days a
week as of January 3. Volun
teers will be cooking on Tues
days and Thursdays. Thank
you, Thank you, in advance.

H ow
many of
you went for an evening drive
around town to view all of the
beautiful Christmas lights? My
sidekick and I took about a 45
minute drive December 22.
Saw the local Police two or
three times. Question? Was he
wondering what that white car
was doing going so slow up,
down and around town, or was
he, too, enjoying the lights?
To each and every one of
you folks, Happy New Year.

Connie Davenport, whose physical condition severely limits her ability to walk, now has
brand new wheels to replace the worn out tricycle she previously used, thanks to the gen
erosity of West Oregon Electric Co-op employees, WOEC, Vernonia Lions and an auction at
the Vernonia Senior Center. Bike & Hike, of Hillsboro, helped further by discounting the cost
of the trike and adding fenders without charge. The bike shop assembled the gift, complete
with a halogen headlight and rechargeable light system, in time for WOEC employees to pres
ent it to Connie on the Saturday before Christmas.
